Rev. John “Keith” Gibson, 88, of Shoals, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on August 17, 1938, in New Madrid, Missouri, a son of the late Victor Willard and LaVena Eloise (Finn) Gibson.

Keith graduated from Wardell High School in Missouri in 1956 and attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio. On July 11, 1958, he married the love of his life and faithful ministry partner, Neoma (Palmer) Gibson.

Rev. Gibson devoted his life to serving the Lord and caring for others as a pastor for over 50 years. He loved preaching and served churches in the Wesleyan Holiness and Pilgrim Holiness Conferences in Beulah Heights, KY; LaJunta, CO; Blackwell and Ponca City, OK; Hiawatha, KS, Mahomet, IL; Lisbon and Salem, OH; Franklin, PA; and Frankfort, Ft. Wayne, and, most recently, Shoals, IN, where he served for 17 years.

Keith was a humble servant of the Lord with an easy presence that put others at ease. His wonderful sense of humor brought warmth to conversations, and his faithfulness was evident throughout his years of ministry. When he had time to himself, he enjoyed riding horses and reading.

Those left to cherish Keith’s memory include his wife of 68 years, Neoma Gibson; his daughter, Karen (Jeff) Tyler of Shelbyville; two daughters-in-law, Stephanie Gibson of Williams and Michelle Gibson of Shoals; nine grandchildren, Stephen (Jade) Gibson, Brittany (Adrian) Hood, Jonathan Gibson, Zachary (Magui) Gibson, Joshua Gibson, Caleb Gibson, Jaron (Alyssa) Gibson, Joel (Haleigh) Gibson, and Jarilyn (Jordan) Whitaker; 16 great-grandchildren, Shalynn, Spencer, Emily, Mackenzie, Veronica, Juliette, Liam, Juniper, Stephen Lee, Elizabeth, Jamin, Liam, Rebecca, Jason, Joel Jr., and Jessie Gibson; three sisters, Marjorie Scannell of Muskogee, OK, Mary (Jeb) Jackson of Skiatook, OK, and Judi (Gary) Gellerman of Yukon, OK; a brother, Joel (Andrea) Gibson of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Gibson of Bixby, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Gibson was preceded in death by his two sons, Dr. Stephen Keith Gibson and James Kenneth Gibson, who died just hours apart on January 31, 2026, and his brother, Russell Gibson. His family takes comfort in the hope of a joyful reunion in Heaven.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Weisbach Community Church in Shoals, with Pastor John Zeigler and Joel Gibson officiating. Burial followed at Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.
